May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, 6 so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. 7 Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God. (Rom 15:5-7)
1/ Can you describe a time when you felt unwelcome somewhere? What do you think it takes to make someone truly welcome?
2/ In Rom 15:7 how does the gospel (re-)shape us to welcome and accept people who we may find hard work? (Why should church be different from any other human organisation? What is the reason & motivation we have to treat people a certain way? Why would this bring praise to God? Do we care?)
3/ How might this shape the way we:
- arrive at church on Sundays
- spend time after the service
- approach new people
- deal with someone we find difficult
4/ What one thing will we commit to do or change? How realistically will we help one another with this?
