Big Idea – Jesus is the powerful son of God
Matthew 14v13-21
Lesson Background
The feeding of the 5000 is the only miracle apart from the resurrection that occurs in all four gospels. The miracle points to God giving his people an abundance of blessing and witnesses to the fact that God can supply human need in the way he sees best. It points us back to God providing manna in the desert (Num 11) and God’s provision for his people is spoken of as “bread from heaven” (Neh 9:15).
Outcomes
Belief – Children will understand that Jesus fed 5000 people with five loaves of bread and two fish.
