Big Idea – Jesus died to fix the problem of sin, to fix the friendship between us and God. We know this is true because Jesus is risen.
Luke 24:1-11
Lesson Background
Jesus died to fix the problem of sin for us and instead of us to take the punishment we deserve, and to make peace with God. We know this to be true because of the resurrection. The resurrection is the proof that what God promises really is true because he defeats sin, death & Satan at his resurrection.
The overall aim is to teach the kids that God had a plan and that plan was fulfilled in Jesus – his birth, death and resurrection.
Outcomes
Children will understand that Jesus not only died to fix the friendship between us and God but that he came alive again to prove this was true. Therefore, if we love God, follow Jesus and listen to his Word, then we can be friends with God forever.
Teach the kids about faith. Those who have faith in Jesus can be friends with God.
Faith = loving God and saying sorry to Him for our sin. It’s listening to His word & following Jesus every day. Teach the kids the BSL sign for ‘faith’.
