Term 3 – Week 6

Big Idea – Only those who have faith in Jesus will be welcomed into God’s Kingdom, those who don’t will miss out.

Matthew 13:47-49

Lesson Background

This unit of work looks at God Big Kingdom. What does life look like in the Kingdom of God now and in the new creation? How do we become part of this Kingdom of God? How do we live as members of Gods kingdom through faith in Jesus Christ and what does it mean for eternity?

The Parable of the Net teaches us that there will be a sorting of people at the last day when Christ returns. The wicked (those who do not repent & follow Jesus now) will be separated out from the righteous (those who have repented & follow Jesus now) and will be thrown into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth (hell).

Outcomes

Children will understand what faith is and be encouraged to keep following Jesus.

They will understand that not all people will be welcomed into God’s kingdom, so we need to pray for those who don’t follow Jesus otherwise they will miss out.

Songs

Jesus Rocks the World. (Colin Buchanan – Jesus Rocks the World CD)

Memory Verse

If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord’, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
