Term 3 – Week 10
Big Idea – Adoption – Sinners made God’s sons (children)!
Luke 15 & John 1
Outcomes
- To know that Adoptions means sinners made God’s children (sons).
- To understand that we are God’s children because of Jesus.
- To appreciate that only God’s children can inherit eternal life.
Implications
- Belief – Through adoption, sinners have the right to call God their ‘Father’, just as Jesus calls God ‘Father’.
- Help the children understand the enormity of this gift of God’s grace towards sinners!!! We belong to two families, our earthly family and God’s family.
- Behaviour – Because we are adopted as God’s children, we can pray to God our heavenly Father.
- Prayer is how we thank God for his adoption and an expression of our dependence upon him, just like a child who depends on their parents to live.
Memory Verse
1 John 4:10 (NIVUK)
This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
