Rachel Chard

Location:
Oxford, UK

Role:
Staff Worker & Head of Hard-to-Reach, with Friends International

Dundonald Link Person:
Katy Bray

What are they doing?
In Rachel’s national role as Head of Hard-to-Reach, Rachel helps Friends International to think strategically and creatively about how they can reach out to international students with least access to the gospel. This includes travelling around the UK helping FI staff, local churches, and Christian Unions to identify who their ‘hard to reach’ students are, understand why they are hard to reach and consider what can be done about it. In her local role as a Staff Worker, Rachel works alongside others in Oxford to reach out to international students, partnering with local churches and with the two university CUs, supporting students who are already believers and providing seeker opportunities to the many who do not yet believe.

Connection to Dundonald: Richard alerted Dundonald that his sister (Rachel) and her husband (Andrew) were heading to Tanzania as pioneer church planters and we were delighted to support them from 1994-2008 as they served there with AIM International. Since returning to the UK we’ve continued supporting Rachel’s ministry, and she regularly makes herself available to assist our outreach to internationals in SW20.

Gospel Partnerships

At Dundonald we also have a number of Gospel Partnerships for people and projects that we want to generously support as we seek to ‘make disciples of all nations’.

Donald & Becky Kamese – London & Mexico

Donald and Becky are training in Bible teaching at Cornhill as they prepare to return to Mexico where Donald is a senior leader of a growing church planting and discipleship network seeking to reach a extremely needy part of the country called ‘the circle of silence’ where gospel preaching is extremely rare and opposed.

Mazen Naswari – Jerusalem

Mazen Naswari is the senior pastor at Jerusalem Alliance Church, doing a brilliant work in a difficult but exciting context, discipling and training believers to ‘know the Word, live according to the Word, and spread the Word’ as they hold onto and hold out the gospel in Jerusalem. Keep an eye out for information regarding plans for a Dundonald visit in the future!

Anna Tetsuya – London

Anna has been a member at Dundonald for several years, and is now working with a small Japanese speaking church, called South London Japanese Church. Her prayer is for the church to grow in unity, maturity in faith and for the Japanese communities in the UK and abroad to hear the good news of the gospel and come to saving faith. She is also seeking to work alongside Japan Christian Link, to help strengthen the faith of Japanese believers and equip them for their return to Japan.
