Read on for an introduction to the planned changes to within Kids & Youth from September onwards.

The Vision

Our goal in Kids & Youth Ministry is to grow lifelong disciples of Jesus through faithful bible teaching in relationship with the church.

The Strategy

Experience tells us the most effective way to achieve this, is through consistent relationships (week by week) between trained leaders and the children in their groups.
So are we moving away from a rota system to dedicated, trained teams who are serving at a different congregation to the one they usually attend.

The Challenge

This is an exciting and big task all rolled into one. Exciting because the whole church will witness the joy of leaders & children in thriving relationships. But big because we now have to recruit people to create and train up teams for service in Kids & Youth Ministry.
In order to effectively promote discipleship ministry and build teams we need to recruit a full quota of leaders across Kids & Youth.

The Plan

1. Identify Potential Leaders

During May and Early June we’d love to hear from you if you’d like to think about being a part of this exciting new development, natasha.small@dundonald.org

Elders, Staff and Small Group Leaders will be putting their heads together to think about those who might be suited to this sort of ministry.  Please don’t worry if your name comes up on one of these lists! We’d love to have a conversation with you to find out how much you know about what’s involved in the Kids & Youth work and to see if this might be your ministry.

2. Build Teams of Leaders

During June and July we’ll be continuing those conversations.

There will also be ‘Taste & See’ sessions, so potential leaders can come and observe a Sunday School class.

We also hope to run some information evenings where you can find out more about what might be involved.

We’ll work with you and other ministries to help you come off the many different rotas that you might be on to the position where you can commit to serving on a Kids & Youth team.

3. Train the Teams of Leaders

In August we’ll be providing the training necessary for the Teams of Leaders to be ready to hit the ground running and grow this discipleship ministry across Kids & Youth.

4. Launch the New Teams

In September we’ll be having our first Sunday School classes with these new teams in place.  We expect there to be much to celebrate.

What Next?

Please pray! Give thanks for the wonderful leaders and volunteers who’ve given so much to our Kids & Youth over recent years as they’ve taught them about Jesus.  Please also pray (Matt. 9:38) that God will enable us to raise up the leaders needed for this exciting ministry.
