This series is called Joseph, but it is about ‘promises and providence in the line of Jacob.’ The story itself isn’t really about Joseph and his ‘technicolour dream-coat,’ but rather, it’s about Jacob and his family line. It is about God and his preservation of Jacob’s family (Israel) according to His promises, despite all of the wickedness and sin of Jacob and his sons.
In short, Joseph highlights how God’s providence secures His promises.
