What does true freedom look like in a community? Having seen the sober and shocking contrast between the acts of the flesh and the fruit of the Spirit, we now see what Spirit-led community looks like in practice and why it’s so important.

  1. What do you think people want to experience in a community? How realistic are we/they about sin and suffering?
  2. How does a Spirit-led community behave in v1-6? How might this provide an alternative to provoking and envying (5:26)?
  3. Can you think of practical ways we might
    • restore sinners gently? (1)
    • share burdens mutually (2)
    • understand ourselves humbly (3-5)
    • support ministry generously (6)
  4. In light of v 7-9, how can we help one another practically to ‘sow to please the Spirit’? Where are we in danger of sowing to the flesh? When are we tempted to grow weary?
  5. Realistically in this season, what will it look like for us to put v10 into practice? How specifically can we pray for the Spirit’s help to become this kind of community?
