Term 3 – Week 09
Big Idea – Christians find their true identity in Christ now.
2 Corinthians 5 & Galatians 2
Outcomes
- To know we become a new creation when we put our trust in Jesus and follow him.
- To understand that sinful humanity is reconciled with God in Christ.
- To appreciate that Jesus himself dwells in those who are in Christ. He gives Christians the power to live the Christian life.
Implications
- Belief – The gospel of Jesus is the only hope for a full and flourishing life now because those in Christ are a new creation. We are reconciled back to God and have Christ himself dwelling in us. This is true humanity. This is the full and flourishing life. This is the truth that we need to encourage the kids to hold onto in a world that denies Christ, rejects God and lives for the self.
- Behaviour – If we are in Christ then Christ lives in us, he gives us the power to say no to sin. Talk about how they can practically say no to sin this week. Talk about how they can practically live a faithful Christian life whose identity is found in Christ alone.
Memory Verse
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ,he is a new creation; the old has gone and the new has come!
2 Corinthians 5:17
