Term 1 – Week 02
Big Idea – Yahweh, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is the one true and living God
1 Kings 16-18
Outcomes
- To know that King Ahab turned away from the true and living God to worship the false god Baal, hence turning the people of God away too.
- To understand that Yahweh and not Baal is the one true God.
- To appreciate the seriousness of turning away from Yahweh towards idols.
Implications
- Belief (Head / Heart) – Help the children understand that all people need to make a decision in life. Is Yahweh & His son the Lord Jesus Christ the one true and living God or is there another!
- Behaviour (Hands) – If God and His Jesus is the true and living God, then how has this changed our lives? Help the children to consider how their lives are different from the people around them if they worship God and follow Jesus!
Memory Verse
2 Chronicles 26:15-16
The Lord, the God of their ancestors, sent word to them through his messengers again and again, because he had pity on his people and on his dwelling-place. But they mocked God’s messengers, despised his words and scoffed at his prophets until the wrath of the Lord was aroused against his people and there was no remedy.
