We have a large, active youth program at Dundonald Church. We understand young people, working hard to make every individual feel valued and welcomed in our groups. Whether they come from a church-going family or not, all young people will find our groups warm and friendly.
Our goal is to help young people develop their own relationship with Jesus. In a challenging and changing time in their lives we want to encourage them to build their lives on truths of the Bible. We want our young people to feel part of a group of friends who encourage them to stay strong in their faith and to step out in showing Jesus to their friends.
Pathfinders - for young teens in school years 7-9 (11-14 years of age)
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.” Psalm 119: 105
SUNDAYS
We get together every Sunday at the Factory during the 10am meeting. We spend the time hearing from God’s Word in a relevant and engaging way. This might be through group discussion, interactive short talks, activities or accessible Bible Studies. We would normally be a group of about 15-20 young people, so it is easy for visitors to join us.
FRIDAY SOCIALS
We meet every other Friday at the Factory from 6:30 - 8:30pm for an evening with mates that’s both frantic and chilled. And that’s not easily achieved! This is the evening that is perfect for those who want to find out what we’re about. If you want to check us out make these evenings a priority. We start with a stack of games and activities including Table Tennis, Pool, Console Games, Indoor Mini Tennis and a Tuck Shop. We’ll think briefly about some aspect of the Christian faith in our lives as young people before launching into fun- catering for all types! In the past we’ve made smoothies, designed and eaten our own pizzas, watched films and been to play 5-a-side football, tenpin bowling and adventure golf! Anyone in school years 7-9 are welcome.
SUMMER CAMPS
Each summer almost all of our young people go away for a residential week. These encourage strong friendships, memorable experiences and the chance to explore their Christian faith in a sheltered environment whilst having a cracking good time! These weeks have often proven to be the highlight of the young peoples' year. Here are some of the camps our staff, leaders and young people are involved in:
Cyfa - for older teens in school years 10-13 (15-18 years of age)
“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.” Matthew 7:24
SUNDAYS
We’re in the main meeting from 7:00pm for fellowship and worship with the 150 other young adults before heading out for our own time together. We catch up over drinks and snacks before hearing about relevant issues from God’s Word. We tackle important issues present in our lives as young people in a chilled out environment. We’re a growing group of 15-20 young people- big enough for visitors to sit back and listen, small enough for regulars to feel part of the family.
FRIDAY SOCIALS
Because our young people are growing in their independence our socials aim to treat them as adults without losing the fun! We meet from 8-10pm every other Friday in a variety of locations. In the past these have included homes, ice-cream parlours, cinemas and restaurants. Sometimes the lads will head out and kick a ball around and the girls will pamper themselves. Generally though, we’ll have a meal together, chill and chat. These are the perfect evenings to come along to and find out what we’re all about.
BIBLE STUDIES
These are held fortnightly on Wednesdays at the Factory from 8:00-9:30pm. We have separate girls and boys groups where it’s a great chance to get stuck deeper into the Bible. Come and join us as we work our way through a book of the Bible and grow in our personal knowledge of the Lord Jesus. We’ll be tucking into some unhealthy puddings at the same time too!
WEEKEND AWAY
Once a year we head away for a weekend together. It’s a great time for continuing to build our friendships and discover more about the God of the Bible. There are high energy activities like assault course or high-rope action, chilled out fun like board or card games, trips to the beach and late nights watching DVDs or roasting marshmallows.
