Dundonald Men’s Ministries
The different men’s ministries at church are opportunities to encourage each other to be more Christlike. We can’t do it alone, but “as iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” Together as guys we can help each other as we get to know each other, and share our lives and our experiences.
As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another (Proverbs 27:17)
Men’s Ministry - What’s it all about?
- Being men (not conforming to stereotypes of church as a ‘girl thing')
- Being biblical (not following the yobbish culture around us)
- Having fun (enjoying good company and God’s good creation)
In summary: being like Jesus
Thus whatever we do (and there are a range of activities so there’s something for everyone) we want to be building each other up in Christ.
Prayer Triplets
Groups of 3 guys meeting every few weeks before or after work to pray, encourage and be accountable to each other
Men’s Breakfasts
2-3 times a term we meet as men for breakfast. Most breakfasts are aimed at guys from church, seeking to encourage and equip us to live as godly men.
Once a term we will hold a guest breakfast, where the talk will explain the good news about Jesus in a non-threatening environment.
RUNNING CLUB
Each Saturday morning we meet at 7.30am to hit the trail around Wimbledon Common whilst talking through a key bible verse.
Men Behaving Dadly
On the first Saturday of each month guys come to church with their toddlers to chat, have bacon butties, and serve our wives by giving them a break. This ‘Dads and toddlers' group is also a great way to meet guys from outside the church, and share our lives (and faith) with them.
Book Club
We hold a men’s book club monthly to discuss Christian books with the specific aim of addressing the issues facing Christian men in today’s society.
CURRY NIGHTS / TANDOORI TESTIMONIES
Keep it simple - come to a local curry house; eat curry, have a beer, encourage and be encouraged hearing a fellow Christian’s testimony.
INTRA-CONGREGATIONAL CRICKET
Wimbledon congregations' 11-a-side matches. Wednesday evenings throughout the summer.
5-a-side Football
We play on Thurs nights 8-9pm at Raynes Park sports ground, and there is always a good mix of church and non-church guys playing.
One-off events
Football Tournaments - Intra-congregational 5-a-side tournament
Super Summer Sixes - Co-mission wide 1 day Intra-congregational 6-a-side cricket tournament
Quizzes - ad hoc sports or pub style quizzes for church members and their guests.
